Celebrating 125 years of independent education.

A commemorative brand identity and event suite marking the 125th anniversary of an Oakland K-12 independent school.
Head-Royce School is a college-preparatory school in the Oakland Hills known for academic rigor and community programs.
Ahead of its 125th anniversary in 2012, I partnered with school leadership to design a commemorative logo and event graphics. The anniversary mark was subsequently retained as the school's primary brand logo through 2025, when it was redesigned to coincide with the opening of a new campus annex.

BRAND IDENTITY
A celebration of the past, a vision for the future.
The identity was designed to honor the school's history while reflecting its forward-looking campus expansion plans.
The logo design draws from a prominent architectural feature of the campus center: a large oval window overlooking the main courtyard. This framing device became the core visual element, paired with sans-serif typography, script detailing, and the historical dates (1887–2012).

EVENT GRAPHICS
Alumni Weekend, a Gala, and All That Jazz.
The anniversary program featured a performance by Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. I designed a Blue Note-inspired invitation suite styled as a vintage vinyl record sleeve, incorporating a pop of the school's signature green palette on the traditional black and blue motif.
Additional print collateral included custom invitation packages for the 125th Anniversary Gala and Alumni Weekend.
